Designing Reports for MS Word

Top  Previous

Deskflow Reports that need to be in Microsoft Word need to processed in a specific way, because QuickReports does not have an export format to MS Word. The best way to do this is to save the printed report as a PDF file then convert the PDF file to RTF format, which is readable by Word.

To Produce a Deskflow Report formatted in Word:

1.Acquire and install a free or purchased version of the virtual print driver called PDF995 from http://download.cnet.com/PDF995-Printer-Driver/3000-6675_4-10068482.html. This will install a printer driver.

2.Acquire and install a trial or purchased version of BCL EasyConverter3 from http://store.bcltechnologies.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=12

3.Ensure that the required report template is designed to fit the output paper size and orientation.

4.Preview the output of any report in Deskflow, then print it to the PDF995 printer.

5.Select the appropriate page size and orientation - such as 8.5" x 11" or A4 size, Portrait or Landscape

6.Define the destination folder and name for the PDF output file

7.Run the BCL EasyConverter program, specifying the input and output file addresses.

8.The output file will be in RTF format and will be readable in Word.

Notes: Do not use the native PDF output format in Deskflow QuickReports because it does not do an adequate job.
