Fix Screen Resolution Problems

Top  Previous  Next

All the main views in Deskflow - such as People, Companies, Projects, Job Orders etc - are initially set to Normalized sizes and fonts.  The default font for most Deskflow views is Arial 8 point, with some fonts being Arial 7 or Arial 6.

However the actual size of text that a User sees on the desktop is governed by the screen resolution setting on each computer, combined with the size of the Deskflow form - i.e. Maximized or Normalized

The higher the screen resolution, the smaller the text will appear in Deskflow

The lower the screen resolution, the larger the text will appear in Deskflow

Examples of possible screen resolutions using Windows Normal size fonts are:

1920 x 1080

1680 x 1050

1440 x 900

1360 x 768

1280 x 1024

1024 x 765

WARNING: Deskflow Screens have variable screen sizing. By dragging the corners or edges of a screen it can be expanded. Since so much data and so many images are located on each Deskflow screen, the effects can cause disastrous layout issues and abnormal font sizes. Therefore we strongly advise Users to never use the variable screen sizing capability.

Useful Screen Setup Hints:

Users that want to see the most information on a Deskflow form such as People or Projects or Job Orders, must set the Windows Screen Resolution to the highest possible setting (say 1920 x 1080) then maximize the Deskflow screen(s).

Users that want to maximize the size of text in a Deskflow form such as People or Projects or Job Orders, must set the Windows screen resolution to a low resolution such as 1024x765 or 1280x1024 then maximize the Deskflow screen(s).

Users who want to cram as many Deskflow views onto one computer screen as possible, need to set screen resolution as high as possible (say 1920x1080), then open all Deskflow views as Normal Sized windows (not maximized). It helps to have an extra wide screen or two wide screens.

Problem Analysis

There are two types of problems that can occur in Deskflow screen layouts:

If a screen has been stretched by accidentally dragging an edge or corner, the new screen size is remembered in the Windows Registry Folder called: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > WFI > DFE.  This problem can only be fixed by editing the DFE folder contents. See procedure below called: To Clear Abnormal Deskflow Screen Layouts

If the screen layout has column widths that are unacceptable, then see [procedure below called: To Reset Deskflow Column Widths

To Clear Abnormal Deskflow Screen Layouts:

1.Click Edit > User Settings on the main Deskflow menu bar

2.Un-check the setting Remember Form Position and Size on Close

3.Click OK

4.Close all open Deskflow views – except the Main Menu

5.Click Tools > Remove your Deskflow stored preferences
