Resume/CV Importer Problems

1.Problem: Text version of a Resume/CV is either empty or full of question marks (????? ??)

Explanation: When a Resume/CV is imported into the Deskflow database, the original format (Word, PDF, RTF etc) is kept intact. A text version of the Resume/CV is created for two reasons: enable full-text indexing and searching of the text version, provide fast retrieval and display of the text version of the Resume/CV.

The IFILTERS utility that is installed by Deskflow is used to convert a document to text and if the Windows Indexing Service is not functioning or installed correctly, the IFILTERS utility fails. Read more about Windows Indexing Service at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_indexing_service

Solution 1: Open the Resume/CV document, make a small change to it, click the Close Window icon, then click Save Changes. The text version of the Resume/CV should appear. If not, proceed to:

Solution 2: Install then uninstall the Windows Indexing Service from Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs >  Add/Remove Windows Services

Solution 3: Uninstall then install the Windows Indexing Service from Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs >  Add/Remove Windows Services

2. Problem: The Resume/CV Importer uses the incorrect dictionary for the country referenced in the Resume/CV

Explanation: Deskflow has separate dictionaries for: Asia, Australia, Canada, UK, USA. Each dictionary has thirteen text files describing lists of common cities, lastnames, firstnames etc to be used to correctly parse data.

Solution: Step 1. Install the correct Dictionary (only the Deskflow Administrator has the right to do this) by clicking Deskflow Tools > Upload Dictionaries for Resume Processing > Find and select all 13 dictionary text files > click OK

Step 2: Click Deskflow Tools > Select Default Dictionary for Resume Processing
