Using Outlook with Vista

Top  Previous  Next

Vista has more security features than Windows XP, and these can cause problems for Deskflow.

In Windows XP, Deskflow can automatically launch Outlook without breaching security.

In Vista, Deskflow cannot launch Outlook automatically because Vista does not recognize Deskflow and makes the assumption that an unknown program is trying to use Outlook. Since so many virus programs propagate themselves via email, Vista does not respond to the Deskflow launch command.

To Run Vista Outlook with Deskflow:

1.Start Outlook

2.Start Deskflow

3.Click the Outlook Email icon in Deskflow main menu. This will bind Outlook to Deskflow.

To Fix a Vista Outlook Problem:

1.If you launch Vista Outlook from Deskflow and get these messages:

ERROR on Create Outlook Application

and/or ERROR on Get Name Space

2.Then exit Outlook and exit Deskflow.

3.Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete then search for and delete any memory-resident copy of Outlook.

4.Start Outlook

5.Start Deskflow

6.Click the Outlook Email icon in Deskflow main menu. This will bind Outlook to Deskflow.
