Vista Configuration and Issues

Top  Previous  Next

Vista and Windows 7 have more security features than Windows XP, and these can cause problems for Deskflow.

In Windows XP, Deskflow can automatically launch Outlook without breaching security.

In Vista and Windows 7, Deskflow cannot launch Outlook automatically because the operating system does not recognize Deskflow and makes the assumption that an unknown program is trying to use Outlook. Since so many virus programs propagate themselves via email, the operating system does not respond to the Deskflow launch command.

Deskflow will not start correctly from the Deskflow shortcut the first time it is installed on a PC.

A special procedure is required to uninstall Deskflow on a Vista or Windows 7 PC.

Use the Vista wizard to configure Deskflow to run on Vista. This tool is essential when Deskflow is being installed on a Vista-based PC.

Deskflow can archive Vista and Windows 7 documents with 4-character extensions.

Deskflow cannot import Resumes/CVs from Outlook attachments, because Vista currently lacks the IFILTER utility provided with XP. This utility may become available in future. This utility converts document content into Text format.
